Sea Rescue – The Voices Of Zarzis Fishermen
The Tunisian fishermen of Zarzis often cross migrant boats from Libya. In September 2013 one of them rescue a stranded boat with 112 people on board. “There were six women and two children. A woman gave birth sitting on the edge of the raft,” says this fisherman. Of the 112 migrants, about a dozen have lost their lives at sea, the others were taken in Zarzis and then transferred to Medenine, where they live with a document from asylum seekers.
