The story of Emad

From Libya to Tunisia. The epic story of a Sudanese family. Emad is a young doctor who lived for most of his life in Libya. Forced to leave the country in conflict in 2011, Emad and his family were stopped at the Libyan-tunisian border for 45 days, living in a strip of land, in inhuman conditions. After this tragic experience, the Emad’s family arrived to Choucha refugee camp. Since 2011 UNHCR resettled in North America and Europe thousand of refugees coming for Libya. Emad. however, arrived too late.

Across the sea it aimed at documenting migrations journeys along main routes of the Mediterranean Sea. Grounding on the previous Through Desert and Sea, the project wants to outline the comprehensive dimension of migration from Southern to Northern shores with the long term goal of enhancing intercultural dialogue, empowering migrants and fostering alternative narratives and perceptions about migration in the Mediterranean countries.
